Quality Assurance Specialist

QC technicians with a bachelor’s degree and four to six years experience can be promoted to quality control analysts. With additional experience they can move into supervisor or manager positions. People in these positions monitor the work of QC technicians and oversee the record keeping of the technicians and prepare reports accordingly.  Possible job duties are as follows: check equipment to make sure it is operating properly; verify that the equipment is properly installed and maintained; inspect storage areas to make sure that conditions will maintain the quality of raw materials and products; and document and sign off every step of the manufacturing process. Depending on the size and type of the company, some shift work may be required.

QC technicians who have an associate degree or a high school diploma can take advantage of the education benefits that many biotechnology companies offer and obtain a four-year degree while gaining experience in the quality control area.
